The aim with sustainable development is to define frameworks reconciling the economic, social and environmental aspects of human activities. These “three pillars” for sustainable development are to be factored in by both businesses and local authorities.
On a global level, various charters and protocols set out the guidelines for action by signatory countries. They have a strong focus on energy and more specifically renewable energies.
These action plans are intended to enable populations to have energy in sufficient quantities on a long-term basis, at competitive rates and without any health risk, while respecting the environment.
